HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The beach hazards statement has been extended until 4 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service meteorologists in Grand Rapids.
That means swimming will be dangerous until then for Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021, with high waves and strong currents. Piers will be swamped by waves strong enough to knock people into Lake Michigan.
A small craft advisory is also in effect with waves expected to reach four feet. Inexperienced boaters or those operating small craft are advised to stay out of Lake Michigan
While the outlook for severe thunderstorms is marginal, storms could bring large hail and damaging winds. Those conditions could continue through Tuesday, according to the NWS report.
Spotters may need to active at some point during this time, according to the NWS statement.
