POLKTON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 42-year-old Whitehall man was injured in a SUV-motorcycle collision in the Coopersville area on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 11, 2021).
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matthew Wildfong, deputies and first responders were dispatched to the intersection of 56th Avenue and Wilson Street around 12:30 PM. “Investigation shows that the (unnamed biker), riding a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle, was eastbound on 56th Avenue and had stopped for the stop sign at Wilson,” Wildfong said in a department statement. “He then pulled into the path of a southbound 2010 Chevrolet Suburban and was struck in the intersection. The rider was injured and transported to (an unnamed) hospital.”
The injuries to the motorcyclist, who was helmeted, were not immediately considered to be life-threatening. The driver and passenger in the SUV, identified only as a 39-year-old man and a 59-year-old man, respectively, were not hurt; both of them are from Zeeland.
The collision remains under investigation.
