WRIGHT TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Two persons on a motorcycle were seriously injured in a crash along a curved roadway in eastern Ottawa County on Friday evening (Sept. 3, 2021).
According to Sheriff’s Lieutenant Eric Westveer, deputies and first responders were dispatched to 8th Avenue near Hayes Street in Wright Township around 8:15 PM. “On scene investigation shows that a 2015 Harley Davidson was traveling southbound on 8th Avenue, approaching Hayes Street,” he said in a department statement. “At this location, the roadway of 8th Avenue curves into Hayes Street. Upon approaching the curves, the driver, a 59-year-man from Grand Rapids, lost control of the motorcycle, went off of the roadway, and crashed in the ditch.”
The man, along with a 52-year-old female passenger from Grand Rapids, were taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital for treatment.
Westveer added that both the driver and the passenger were helmeted at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
