HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) –The National Weather Service’s high-heat advisory issued today, with more possible over the next few days, led Lou Hunt, Ottawa County’s director of emergency management, to organize some cooling spaces for people who may not have access to air conditioning.
With daytime temperatures in Ottawa County hitting high 80s to low 90s, and high humidity raising the heat index, people can get quickly overwhelmed by the temperatures.
Hunt said a key tactics is to stay hydrated with non-alcoholic drinks — mainly water — and spending as much time as possible in shade or in an air-conditioned space. If you don’t have access to air conditioning, free cooling locations include:

9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wed., Aug. 25; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Aug. 26-27; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28: Herrick District Library, 300 S. River Ave., Holland:
