Hope's McKenna Otto hits a kill between two Albion defenders at the net.
With Ottawa County categorized at high risk for increased transmission of the Covid-19 Delta variant, Hope College now requires anyone who is indoors in a campus building, or on campus transit, to wear a face covering regardless of vaccination status. The policy went into effect on August 15 to add a layer of mitigation to protect the Hope College community from the spread of COVID-19.
As a result of this new policy, the following guidelines will be in effect for upcoming home athletic events:
- The indoor face covering requirement applies to all indoor spaces, including locker rooms, press boxes, operational booths, etc., regardless of vaccination status.
- Outdoor venues (Van Andel Soccer Stadium, Ray and Sue Smith Stadium): No face coverings are currently required for fans.
- Indoor venues (DeVos Fieldhouse): All home volleyball matches will require fans to wear face coverings, regardless of vaccination status, unless actively eating or drinking.
Capacities at home athletic events are not being limited or reduced.
This policy is subject to change. Hope Athletics will update our Indoor Mask Policy based on local and college conditions. We will remain in close contact with Ottawa County and update the Hope community through hope.edu/coronavirus.
