Orley W. Van Dyke age 96, left this world on Friday, August 6, 2021, and joined his Savior Jesus in heaven
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty and daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and James Waybright.
Orley is survived by his sons, David Van Dyke and Philip Van Dyke; 7 Grandchildren, 10 Great-grandchildren; siblings, Shirley Van Langevelde, Lavina Fischer, Paul (Jan) Van Dyke; Jo Ann (Bob) Plooster, Judith (James) Van Eck, Steve (Jan)Van Dyke, Mary Dalman; in-laws, Ken (Shirley) Schippers, Mary Barrett, Sharon (Carl) DeJonge, Barb Van Dyke, Bonnie Van Dyke; Several nieces and nephews.
He was a long-time member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church and a proud WWII combat veteran. He flew many missions over Japan as a B-29 bombardier, he was decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross, 4 Air Medals, 2 Presidential Unit Citations plus other medals. He spent many years working at the Holland Sentinel before joining his wife Betty owning and operating Schippers Furniture from which he retired.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland. Pastor Dan Walcott will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to Rehoboth Christian Schools and Hospice of Holland.
