HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 29-year-old Muskegon man was killed in a car-tree crash just before 6:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2021, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Matt Wildfong.
Police investigators believe that man had been driving south on M231 near Buchanan when the car ran off the west side of the road, hitting a tree. The force of the crash pinned the driver into the vehicle and led to a small fire in the car’s engine compartment, according to Wildfong. Robinson Township firefighters extricated the driver and doused the fire, he said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Wildfong, who noted alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in this crash. The man’s name was not released, pending notification of next of kin.
