HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — One person were hurt in a traffic crash that also damaged the building.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Nicholas Knott said in a statement that a 22-year-old Grand Haven man driving a 2006 Dodge SUV was headed west on Lincoln when he attempted a right turn onto northbound US 31. But his vehicle hit a northbound 2006 Dodge pick-up with a 64-year-old man at the wheel.
The force of the crash sent the Dodge SUV across the median and into US 31’s southbound lane, where it hit railroad tracks, went airborne and hit a building, Midnite Sun, 16715 Lincoln.
Company officials made a Facebook post just after the crash, writing, “Thank the good Lord our team and clients were not injured when this happened at our Grand Haven location just a short while ago. The corner of the building is damaged but repairable not sure about everyone’s favorite Instant #1 yet – 😢 will update you on that when we know more. Thank you to Emily , Glenn and Les for handling the situation. We will be back open tomorrow from 10-7 for your tanning pleasure.”
Knott indicated 22-year-old Grand Haven man “suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment.” The other driver was not physically hurt, according to Knott.
Police cited the driver for several violations. The crash happened just before 5 p.m. Monday, Aug 2, 2021.
