HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It’s another fresh leaf in the laurels for Aron Lowe.
On Friday (July 30, 2021), officials of the Holland Farmers Market announced that the Fennville artist’s creation was judged to be the best in the market’s first-ever T-Shirt Design Contest. Her multi-colored design displaying a variety of products sold at the 8th Street Marketplace every Wednesday and Saturday emerged from among 13 entries by professional and amateur artists.
“It’s very exciting to have my design chosen as the winner and to imagine that lots of people are going to be wearing it soon,” Lowe said in a Market statement. “I had been checking the Facebook page and website for the Holland Farmers Market about every day, hoping to hear some news about the winner. When the email came through, my family was camping and the reception was bad, so I could only see the first sentence, which was exciting, but also maddening.”
Lowe had won the 2020 Tulip Time Festival official poster competition, but when that annual event was canceled due to COVID 19 safety protocols, the festival asked her to design the official poster for the 2021 event. The Market will shortly sell youth and adult t-shirts with Lowe’s design, with proceeds going to support various programs run by the Market. Lowe will also receive $100 in Market Bucks gift certificates.
The other 12 entries in the t-shirt contest will be put up in a People’s Choice Award competition, beginning on Monday, with the public voting held on the Market’s Facebook Page. The creating receiving the most “likes” and “loves” through next Friday, August 6, will earn $50 in Market Bucks gift certificates.
