HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Earlier this month the owners of Teerman’s, a long-time downtown Holland shop, announced they were eliminating the housewares side of their shop. This week, they announced the patio and clock sections are also being eliminated, and the entire store will close.
Some discounts are already announced; customers who have items on order will get those. Teerman’s officials will contact those customers individually.
In one social-media post announcing the initial housewares’ downsizing, story officials they’ve been honored to be part of Downtown Holland for more than 80 years but “unfortunately the events of the past year and necessitate closing our housewares department.” The also indicated Nelis’ Dutch Village woule open a retail outlet in the former housewares space.
In a message this week, they announced that news from patio suppliers that already extended lead times for products are only expected to get longer, so “we have decided with heavy hearts we must now announce the closure of the rest of our store. This decision not been easy, but it is the only option.”
The message went on to thank all the customers who shopped at the store over the years. “Your support has been greatly appreciated. We’d also like to thank all our employees. You are the face of Teerman’s and your commitment to customer service is what set us apart.”
The store, at 20 E. Eighth St. in Holland, first opened in 1941.
