ROBINSON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 33-year-old Florida man was injured in a two-vehicle crash west of Allendale on Tuesday (July 27, 2021) evening.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Hallmeyer, deputies and first responders were dispatched to the junction of 120th Avenue and Lake Michigan Drive shortly after 6 PM. “Initial reports were that the driver of a white cargo man was unconscious,” he said in a department statement. “The driver had been southbound on 120th Avenue when he ran a red light. This caused a collision with a westbound Jeep, driven by a 21-year-old man from Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Neither the driver of the Jeep or his passenger (a 22-year-old Grand Haven woman) were injured.”
The van driver was taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Hallmeyer added that alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
