HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Something borne out of necessity due to COVID 19 health protocols has led to a partnership between Community Action House and Herrick District Library.
In early July of 2021, the two entities announced a joint effort “to assist library guests with questions about local resources,” according to officials with CAH, who will have members of an Outreach Team be at the main branch of the library off of River Avenue for four hours a day, five days a week. According to Action House Chief Operating Officer Tracy Bolo, the program has been a success already.
“We saw computer research rise (during the pandemic), and people unable to access some of those resources like filing for unemployment, because they don’t have a computer or access to the Internet, and the library was closed,” she said on “WHTC Talk of the Town” during a Monday (July 26, 2021) appearance. “So we had set up some of those computers (at the CAH offices off of West 14th Street in Holland), and it occurred to us that, ‘How could we partner with Herrick in that way?'”
The initiative is set to run for a year, with an opportunity to renew the agreement after that period. A link to more information on the program, including its hours of operation, is here.
