HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Saugatuck City Council has nixed plans by a Grand Rapids developer to create floating rental homes near the Chain Ferry, according to WOOD-TV reporting.
Concerns raised during Monday’s council meeting included: parking, pedestrian safety, noise, and sanitation.
The proposed floating homes are different than houseboats, according to city officials, who indicated marinas must have a permit if they want to allow floating homes, each of which would have to be licensed before it is put into the water, among meeting several other standards.
