HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It’s being called a “Hop Through History at HDL.”
On Saturday (June 24, 2021), from 10 AM to 12 Noon, the Herrick District Library is holding a virtual program looking back on the importance of the census in American history. “Hopping through History – Making Sense of the Census” examines how nose counts held every 10 years in the US not only impacts the nation, but also how it can help piece together the holes in family histories.
“This program is intended to give you ideas and how-tos for your research journey,” HDL Geneology Librarian Mary VanderKooy said in a library statement. “The virtual nature of this presentation allows community members to connect over a common interest, despite not being in the same physical space. It also opens the door to sharing strategies and collaborating on research. It’s ideal for anybody interested in researching their family, especially those who want to know the details – good, bad or ugly – of their own ancestors.”
The program is free for those who register here, although it does require Internet access and a device that can run a ZOOM meeting, either through a web browser or the ZOOM app. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions during the two-hour session. As of Friday afternoon, nearly 300 seats were available.
