HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Allegan County Sheriff’s authorities are investigating the armed robbery of the T-Mobile store in Plainwell that happened just before 10:45 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2021.
Allegan Sheriff’s Capt. Scott Matice said three masked individuals walked into the store, on the 1300 block of M-89; one brandishing a firearm.
The trio robbed the store of an undetermined number of cell phones, then fled the store in a black Ford, Matice wrote in an email to WHTC. Police later learned the Ford had been reported as stolen out of Grand Rapids, according to Matice.
Michigan State Police troopers spotted the car on US 131 and gave chase, into Grand Rapids, where they stopped chasing. But the suspects were spotted on the southeast side of the city, and police arrested two teens, recovering a handgun in the process.
The third suspect identified only as a black male, possibly in his teens or early 20s, was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt and jeans.
The two teens are currently being held at the Allegan County Youth Home pending arraignment on charged of armed robbery .
Matice said police are asking any one with any tips as to the location or identity of the third suspect to contact Allegan County’s Silent Observer at SilentObserver@allegancounty.org.
