ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The Zeeland City Council holds its biweekly business meeting tonight (July 19, 2021).
During the 6 PM work-study session ahead of the 7 PM meeting at City Hall, council members will get a mid-year update on the city’s 2021 Strategic Action Plan, as well as briefed ahead of voting to approve federal funds from the American Rescue Plan. Zeeland is in line for receiving $500,000 from Washington, but it must go towards one or a combination of specific items, and City Manager Tim Klunder wants to “seek what we would consider final direction from City Council” as to the allocation of these funds, along with an additional $500,000 in a general fund surplus.
Council will also see documentation on the final costs for building the roundabout connecting Washington and Main avenues in Zeeland’s Western Gateway. Those costs came over 139 thousand dollars under the budgeted $2.1 million for the project.
