LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – One of the more successful travel and tourism campaigns is turning 15 years old in 2021.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation established “Pure Michigan” as a way to spotlight the Great Lakes State’s many and varied attractions, and Otie McKinley, the Media and Communications Manager for the MEDC, says that a special commemoration for the 15th anniversary is meant to celebrate Pure Michigan and inspire travel throughout the state.
“Travel Michigan has partnered with ‘The Mighty Mitten’ to create six limited edition prints, six of Michigan’s most popular destinations,” he said on “WHTC Morning News” during a Friday (July 16, 2021) appearance.
The prints, priced at $19.99 each, feature the cities of Detroit and Grand Rapids, along with the attractions of the Mackinac Bridge, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Sleeping Bear Dunes and Lake of the Clouds at Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park near Ontonagon. Ten percent of all proceeds from the sales of these prints will go toward Michigan Cares for Tourism, helping to restore historic, cultural and natural attractions statewide.
McKinley added that more partnerships and promotions centering on the 15th anniversary of Pure Michigan “are to come.”
