Margaret Dorothy Santefort, 93 of Fennville, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Golden Orchards in Fennville, Michigan. Born December 15, 1927 in Roseland, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Genevieve (Luce) Schaefer. After graduating high school, Margaret met and married Harold “Sandy” Santefort and the two shared a beautiful life together. Being a true and caring person, Margaret was a wonderful mother to their son, Dean, and provided a loving and nurturing home for her family. Church life was very important to Margaret and she enjoyed attending and being part of the Fennville United Methodist Church. Playing bingo and going to casinos were highlights in her day. Truly a one-of-a-kind woman, she showed her son, grandson and great-grandchildren how to enjoy life but always make sure to give back to others. Never wanting to slow down, she continued to clean houses for others into her 80’s, when she finally realized that she needed to start relaxing a little more. Her gentle spirit is already being missed by her family and friends.
Margaret is survived by her son, Dean Santefort; her grandson, Jonathan (Michelle) Santefort; and two great-grandchildren, Jude Michael and Jacob Santefort; along with many caring friends. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Sandy” Otto Santefort.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Margaret will be laid to rest with her husband at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan. Dean would like to thank Golden Orchards and their staff for the amazing care that his mother received during her time there. All your extra efforts did not go unnoticed.
