HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 67-year-old Allendale man was airlifted from a crash scene at Adams Street and 32nd Avenue in Jamestown Township Monday, June 28, 2021.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike VanDenBosch indicated the crash happened at 3:49 p.m. when an 18-year-old Hudsonville man driving a Ford F-150 hit a semi-tractor trailer hauling a double load of gravel.
The Hudsonville man had been southbound on 32nd Avenue and told police he stopped for the stop sign at Adams Street before pulling into the intersection, where his truck collided with the semi.
The 67-year-old Allendale man driving the semi-tractor trailer had been westbound on Adams, and VanDenBosch indicated the older man had the right of way.
The crash resulted in the semi going off the road and into a ditch, where it landed on the driver’s side of the cab, pinning the driver inside. He was extricated by firefighters and went by AeroMed to an area hospital for treatment of what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Ottawa County Haz Mat responded to the scene to handle a fuel spill. Firefighters from Zeeland and Jamestown townships assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation, but VanDenBosch indicated speed, alcohol and drugs are not considered factors in this crash.
