HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — An 18-year-old Zeeland man driving a Toyota Camry ran a red light at northbound 32nd Avenue’s intersection with westbound exit from I-196. He’s been ticketed for that traffic violation, but it could have been worse.
The Camry crashed into a semi-tractor trailer that was exiting the freeway and turning left onto 32nd Avenue. The Zeeland man suffered minor injuries, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt Keith Biros. The 54-year-old Grand Rapids man driving the semi-tractor trailer was not hurt, police said. The driver of the Camry told police he would get his own ride to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The crash happened just before noon Friday, June 25, 2021, and remains under investigation. Hudsonville and Jamestown Township firefighters assisted at the scene, as did an AMR EMT team.
