GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The domino effect of Wayman Britt’s impending action could be felt in West Olive later this summer.
The former U-M basketball great, who has been the Kent County Administrator since 2004, will retire from that post on July 24th. On Wednesday (June 23, 2021), the Administrator Search Subcommittee holds an 8 AM meeting at the Grand Rapids Area Chamber offices (250 Monroe Avenue, Suite 150), where they are slated to interview the three finalists to replace Britt.
One of those seeking that post is Al Vanderberg, who had spent nearly four years as Kent County’s Deputy Administrator before becoming Ottawa County’s fifth-ever Administrator in 2003. The other finalists are Kent County’s Health Department Director Adam London and the Economic Development Director of the City of Flint Khalfani Stephens.
The three finalists will then participate in a “community forum” on Wednesday evening, from 5:30 to 7 PM, which will be held at the Kent County Community Action’s Community Center Meeting Room (121 Franklin Street SE, Suite 110). Although admission is free and registration is not required, space for in-person public attendance is limited, so Kent County will have a live streaming telecast on its Facebook Page.
The Kent County’s Board of Commissioners is holding a special meeting tomorrow (June 24, 2021) at 8:30 AM in the county’s Administration Building, when the panel may make a decision on Britt’s replacement as Administrator.
