HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A semi-tractor trailer hauling milk crashed on I-196, but no one was hurt, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Matt Wildfong.
The crash happened after 9:30 a.m. when, according to Wildfong, the 34-year-old Hartford resident driving the truck east on I-196 lost control. The truck drifted off the road, overturning near the Adams Street overpass.
Some of the milk spilled out of the tanker; Ottawa County’s Hazmat team responded to assist with cleanup.
The trucking company officials dispatched another tanker, which pumped the remaining milk out of the overturned trailer, which allowed crews to tip the fallen tanker upright again. One lane of eastbound I-196 was closed for several hours during the cleanup, according to Wildfong. He did not indicate if the driver was cited.
