HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland City Council is set to meet at 6:30 p.m. today to adjust the city budget and host a public hearing on 10th Street snowmelt improvements, among other agenda items, which include:
- A public hearing on the 10th Street snowmelt improvements
- Reviewing the Resthaven’s proposed rezoning of 829 East 24th Street from an Agricultural District (AGR) to Planned Unit Development District (PUD). The company has 40 acres adjacent to the .7-acre site. Resthaven officials want to combine the two parcels as part of the Farmstead development.
- Approving the BPW’s energy services project solar plan.
- Adjusting the 2020-21 budget upwards by $577,059. City officials are not using any of the $4.2 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) aid received last month, half of the $8,453,519 total. City officials must have a spending plan for these ARPA funds by Dec. 31, 2024, and the money must be spent by Dec. 31, 2026.
- Updating the city’s liability insurance.
- Approving spending on entertainment for the Aug. 21 International Festival, including:
- Great Lakes Taiko Center, LLC, $1,710
- Richard McMullan Blackthorn, $2,300
- Gratitude Steel Band, $1,750
- Sangeeta’s Dance and Music of India, $1,200
- Tumbao Bravo; 2,800
- Companeros de Flamenco, $1,200
- Accepting the following donations:
- Parks and Recreation’s Bouws pool entry fees, Bouws family and Russ’ Commissary: $4,700
- Parks and Recreation’s Sal Perez scholarship programs, Recreation Office’s daily cash receipts, $156
- To police operations: Fredric Heidema, $100; anonymous, $4,950, Meijer, $950, for community policing; and in-kind donations by Michael Kanis, Bicycles and bicycle gear valued at $5,293.50
