Susan Ann (Sponable) Krugman, age 84, of Zeeland passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021. Susan was born on September 7, 1936.
Susan will be remembered for her love for her family, her gift of hospitality, and her fun, competitive nature. Susan was preceded in death by her parents Robert H. Sponable in 1973, Avis F. (Miles) Sponable in 2008, and Uncle John (Evelyn) Miles, former president of Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music, in 2009.
Susan will be deeply missed by her surviving family members. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Milton Lester (aka Peter) Krugman, son John Peter Krugman (Candace), daughter Melissa Sue Webb (Jim), grandchildren Cortney Krugman, Caleb Krugman, Jackson Webb, Savanna Webb, Daniel Webb (Megan), and Kristin Webb, as well as her siblings Nancy Klomparens (twin), Mary Kay Larson (Richard), Robert Sponable Jr. (Nancy), and James Sponable (Johanna).
Susan was an adventurer at heart, loving to travel and go on adventures with her husband Peter on their journey through life. She took his hand in marriage 62 years ago – and she never lost her grip. They followed God’s leading in ministry and business… from Michigan, to California, back to Michigan, to Texas, to Massachusetts, to North Carolina, to Florida, to Russia, to South Carolina, back to Florida with travels to Africa, South America, Europe, and Asia, back to North Carolina and finally back to Michigan again. Her home was a reflection of her excellent taste and natural ability to blend chaos and calamity into eloquence and beauty. Her confidence in the Lord was consistent and as solid as a rock. On her last day, having fought the good fight, she softly declared to her family, “I am ready to go.”
Private interment will be in Zeeland Cemetery. The family will hold a celebration of life service in July. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Chapel Zeeland. www.yntemafh.com
