Harry was a godly, passionate, joyful person known by everyone for his love of life and positive spirit. He never met a stranger.
His life and career were marked by love and service for others. His career spanned 25 plus years of service at the Meijer Corporation and 20 plus years as a food broker for Damon Inc. serving the Meijer stores. His ministry included serving as a Big Brother, Kids Hope Mentor, decades of youth ministry, and volunteering in countless church outreach opportunities. He loved kids of all ages and always had time for a high five, a word of encouragement, and a piece of candy.
Harry and Diane’s love story began in the summer of 69. God had brought together two who were joined in marriage on August 13, 1971. Their deep love and friendship grew and carried them through some amazing times, and through storms of life. They were blessed with two incredible children to raise. A beautiful family of four. Harry was an incredible husband and father. We always knew that after God, we were first in his life. An encourager, supporter, and mentor we were encouraged to love God, each other, and dream dreams.
The love of his life was his granddaughters, aka the squirrels, Summer, and Aubrey. He filled his days talking to them, randomly texting or calling to encourage and mentor them. He never missed a game or school/church activity.
He was the recipient of a heart transplant in 2011. Our gratitude to our loving God, an anonymous donor of the heart, and the compassionate gifted team of doctors, nurses, and support personnel at the Fred and Lena Heart Center.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:7
