HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Two people were hurt in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in Tallmadge Township, according to Ottawa County Sgt. Ryan DeVries.
The crash, at the intersection of Lake Michigan Drive and 14th Avenue, appears to have happened when a 29-year-old Cedar Springs woman, driving a Mercury Mariner, attempted a left hand turn onto Lake Michigan Drive from 14th Avenue, according to DeVries.
She pulled in front of a Jeep Compass that had been eastbound Lake Michigan Drive, with a 20-year-old Chesterfield woman at the wheel. The collision sent the Jeep into Lake Michigan Avenue’s westbound lanes, where it collided with an Acura sedan, which had a 40-year-old Grand Haven man at the wheel.
He was pinned into the Acura, extricated by firefighters from Tallmadge and Allendale townships and went by LIFE ambulance to a Grand Rapids hospital, in serious condition, according to police. The Chesterfield woman had non-life-threatening injuries and went by ambulance to a nearby hospital, police said.
Police closed Lake Michigan Drive briefly for the crash response, investigation and clean-up.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies.
