Evelyn M. Slager, age 96, of Holland, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her husband Julius Slager, parents Benjamin and Jeanette (Slenk) Becksvoort, four brothers and their wives, Harold (Gertrude), John (Henrietta, Gloria), Marvin (Mary), and Julius (Sylvia) Becksvoort.
Evelyn was a lifelong member of Graafschap CRC, its Christian School Circle, Ladies Aid, and the sewing and quilting for Missions Groups. Evelyn loved studying music, starting at an early age with piano, continuing in piano, organ, and recorder. She was an organ accompanist for the choir and a choir member for many years. During World War II she worked at the Holland Racine Shoe Factory making combat boots for our troops.
She is survived by her children: Paul and Judy Slager and Ken and Sandy Slager; grandchildren: Lisa and Corey Carpenter, Angela Slager, David and Emily Slager, Michael and Michelle Slager and Benjamin Slager; great-grandchildren: Seth and Alyse Slager, twins, Elizabeth “Liz” and Alexandra “Ally” Carpenter, Samuel Slager, Julia Slager, and Abigail Slager; great-granddaughter: Elainah; brother: Nathan Becksvoort; cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be 12:00 pm, Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Graafschap Church, 5973 Church Street in Holland. Reverend Phil Kok will be officiating. Immediately following the service everyone is welcome to a graveside service at Graafschap Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to Graafschap Church or Resonate Global Mission. Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Homes-Mulder Chapel.
