HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A vision for the future of the former Park Township airport site is on tonight’s board of trustees’ agenda.
The meeting, held in person with a Zoom option, is set to start at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2021. The complete packet — all the background information for the meeting — is online at https://parktownship.org/wp-content/uploads/051321-board-packet-zoom-web.pdf
In a memo to township officials, Township Manager Howard Fink wrote, that he understands township trustees will review and approve any and all “policy decisions on the vision for the former airport site, ” but that he would be responsible for resolving “any administrative issues related to process. ”
“Based on some recent comments, this may not be the direction the board wishes to take,” Fink added. “I work at the direction of the board. Does the board wish to have greater oversight in the process?”
The 83-year-old airport, at the northwest corner of Ottawa Beach Road and 152nd Avenue, shut down after voters declined to approve an operations millage in March, 2020.
One of the first orders of business is finalizing plans for a website for interacting with the community: .
Township officials are working with the municipal planning firm McKenna Associates to deliver a four-phase re-visioning effort, starting with virtual and in person community brainstorming that will involved a website — parktwpvision.com is not yet live — and what they are calling “engagement booths” set up at five community locations, including the township hall, 52 152nd Ave., and the Civil Air Patrol Hanger, 1269 Ottawa Beach Rd., among others.
The township board meeting is at 6:30 p.m. today, Thursday, May 13, 2021, with access at the township office or via Zoom: https://zoom.us/join
