According to an Arts Council release, “McClung describes her exceptional body of portraits as a ‘collection of personalities and unique individuals that I have met and felt inspired to paint in watercolor. The community of man is a whole lot of folks, young and old souls that give life to the different countries and towns where they live and grow. Striving forward together, we cradle and love, raise and teach, worship and work, generation upon generation.'”

As for DePree’s presentation, her oil paintings, according to the HAAC, “are a combination of realism and design. They explore the presence of joy in everyday life – not in momentous occasions, but in the simple things we do, (such as) tending a garden, going to the beach, dining outdoors, sitting by the waterfront, walking the street with friends in the Springtime.”
Receptions for each artist are planned at the Arts Council, 150 E. Eighth St, Holland. McClung’s will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. on May 13, with DePree’s appearance set for 5:30-7:30 p.m., May 14. More information on the exhibits and the Arts Council is here.
