Don Van Liere, age 65 of Holland, passed away on April 7, 2021. Don served his community as a volunteer firefighter with Grand Haven and Holland Townships and was a member of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department for over 27 years. Don enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing, picking Morel mushrooms, taking his dog for rides, and spending time on his boat with his wife Keli. When not outdoors he loved being around friends and cooking chicken barbeques for weddings and golf leagues. His proudest achievements were his once-in-a-lifetime Michigan elk, Utah mountain lion, and a new granddaughter.
Don was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Jennie Van Liere, and siblings Carol Van Liere, Mary (John) Bos, and Roger VanLiere.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years Keli (Zeedyk) Van Liere; Daughters Casie Van Liere, and Jamie (Mike) Day; Granddaughter Lyla Day; Sister Dorothy (Bruce) Bazan; Many extended family members and friends.
The family would like to thank the Holland Hospital ICU Team for taking such loving care of Don these past weeks. A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at the Holland Fish and Game Club, 10840 Chicago Drive, in Zeeland, from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Rest easy my friend. Thanks for always showing an interest in my race horses, and for what you did for the community. You’ll be deeply missed at the Legion and everywhere.
