Henry Voetberg, age 93, passed away on April 10, 2021, at home surrounded by his family, and went to be with his Lord & Savior.
Henry was born on January 20, 1928, in Tubbergen, Netherlands, and immigrated with his family to Drenthe, Michigan, in 1950. He served in both the Netherlands Army and the US Army. He was employed at DeLeeuw Lumber for 50+ years. Henry & Grada were members of Pine Creek CRC; currently are members of Central Avenue CRC, and attend Pine Grove Community Church during the summer months. Henry enjoyed bowling and was on several different leagues. Henry loved working in his vegetable garden and spending time at the family cottage on Indian Lake in Howard City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theo & Grace, brothers Jake, Fredrick, Fred, Wayne, and sister Karen Westing.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Grada (Broekhuis), and children Mary Jane & Gerry VandenBerg, Carol & Larry Redder, Betty Voetberg, and Dale Voetberg. Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren: Pamela & Greg Bos (Amber), Mark & Julie VandenBerg (Becca, Leah, Lydia, Abbie, Levi, Hannah), Eric & Amy VandenBerg (Caleb, Mason, Analeigh, Autumn), Doug & Michelle Redder (Lilly, Olivia, Freya), Melissa Redder (Austin, Addilynn), Sam Redder, Nick & Kendall Voetberg (Christopher), Tina Voetberg.
He is also survived by his brother Gerb & Lila Voetberg, sisters-in-law Anne Voetberg, Loretta Voetberg, and Mary Voetberg, and in-laws Ernest & Joyce Kortering, and special neighbor and friend Dawn Polinskey.
The family would like to express a special thank-you to Henry’s wonderful caregivers over the past 2 years – Kelly, Kari, Julie, Michelle, Sydney, Tate, Becky, and Penny – which allowed us to keep Henry at home.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 13, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Langeland Sterenberg, 315 E 16th St. Holland MI. Masks are required. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 14, at 1:30 PM, at Central Avenue CRC. A Livestream will be available at http://www.facebook.com/centralavecrc/live
