SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A Lakeshore community has to take care of some municipal business on Wednesday (Mar. 31, 2021) night.
The Saugatuck City Council is holding a special 3 PM session to go over some pressing items. One is to continue a “state of emergency” necessitated by the COVID 19 outbreak that would allow council and other municipal entities to conduct virtual meetings instead of mandatory face-to-face sessions.
Another matter is to revert the non-resident Oval Beach seasonal pass to $50 for 2021. Earlier this month, Council had approved a $10 hike to $60, but as City Manager Ryan Heise explained in a memo attached to the agenda for the special meeting, “In subsequent conversation during a Council meeting, it was agreed by consensus of Council that a working group would be reviewing potential increases to daily and seasonal passes, along with specific improvement needs and other operations at Oval Beach. Council will need to take official action to revert the non-resident seasonal pass fee to $50.”
Adjustments to the Park Street North Project and guidelines for events in the upcoming spring and summer with the continuing background of the COVID 19 outbreak are also discussion items before the Saugatuck City Council in this special meeting.
