HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Health officials on the national, state and county level are encouraging people to be persistent in warding off the threat of COVD-19 and its variants by continued hand washing, masking up, and social distancing.
The number of people getting COVID-19 or its variant, B117, in Allegan and Ottawa counties continues to rise.
In Allegan County, where on Feb. 21, 2021, the daily average number of people getting diagnosed with the coronavirus hovered at just over 7 per day. As of late last week, it is just over 35 per day.
In Ottawa County, fewer than 30 people were, in one day — Feb. 21 — diagnosed with COVID-19. Just last week on one day, 365 county residents learned they had the coronavirus.
On Friday, Spectrum Health’s dashboard showed 77 people admitted for treatment of COVID-19. Today, Monday, March 29, the dashboard shows 106. Over five days, Holland Hospital showed a 20 percent increase in admitted patients, from eight to 10.
