June stepped into the presence of her Lord and Savior on March 24, 2021. Born June Lois Timmer on October 3, 1936, she resided in Holland her entire life. Most recently she resided at American House in Holland. She graduated from Holland Christian High School and later in life from Davenport College.
June was a woman of strong faith, loved music, and had an unbelievable passion for sewing. She was an excellent seamstress…sewed for her family and many others for many years. She was dedicated here in Holland for 50 years while associated with the Holland Tulip Festival Dutch Costumes. She assisted many others in cutting and guidance in making Dutch costumes. She achieved her personal goal of making 1,000 costumes herself.
Raising 6 children of her own, and while making that her priority, she also welcomed many others into her home. June retired from the registrar’s office at Hope College where she worked for many years. June was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Holland where she was a member of the Joy Circle and was a bell ringer for many years.
Her late husband, Robert Weener, her son Steven Hardenberg in 2016, and her son Jeffrey Hardenberg in October 2020, precede June in death. June is survived by her daughter, Marti (Scott) DeVries of Sun City Center, FL; her sons Timothy (Holly) Hardenberg of Bowling Green, KY and Brooks (Marti Jo) Hardenberg of Holland; her daughter JoLee (Ned) Timmer of Orlando, FL. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Donna Timmer and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
A graveside memorial will take place in late spring 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Holland in memory of June are appreciated. A special thank you to the staff at American House-Beachside for all the love, care, and support you provided Mom and her family over these last couple of years.
