HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The number of people getting diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ottawa and Allegan counties is edging up, as it is statewide.
In Allegan County, where 7,690 people have been identified with the virus, 118 people have died. The graph showing daily case reports has gone from 9.1 per day on Feb. 22, 2021, to 23.3 as of Thursday, March 18..
Ottawa County health officials report 23,208 residents diagnosed with the virus; 353 have died over the last year.
On Feb. 22, Ottawa County records show 51 people diagnosed with the virus. While just 49 were listed for March 18, the county shows 94 people as of Monday and 83 on Tuesday. Numbers often go up as test results are reported. Test results typically day two to six days to process.
In total, 618,421 Michigan residents have had the coronavirus since last March and 15,835 Michigan residents have died from COVID-19.
