HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland resident Jennifer Hampton, 48, died in a crash at Chicago Drive and Waverly just after 5:30 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2021, according to Holland Police Capt. Robert Buursma.
Police called to the scene found a 2008 Hyundai Sonata with heavy front-end damage and a 2017 Toyota Prius with significant damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle, Buursma said in a statement emailed to media.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the Sonata, being operated by a 23-year-old female from Holland, was headed east bound on Chicago Dr. Hampton, driving the Prius, had been headed north on Waverly. Witnesses told police the Sonata driver ran the red light, hitting the Prius broadside.
The Sonata’s driver went by AMR ambulance to Holland Hospital; Buursma didn’t indicate her condition.
Alcohol is not believed to have been involved in the crash, according to police, and no occupants other than drivers in either vehicle.
