Lakeshore High Schools Get State Hoops Tournament District Pairings

EAST LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The marching orders for March Magic are now in.

On Sunday (Mar. 14, 2021), the Michigan High School Athletic Association announced pairings for district action in its boys and girls basketball tournaments. The top two teams in each district, as compiled through a Michigan Power Ratings formula based on games played through March 13^th, were put on opposite ends of the district bracket so that they couldn’t face each other until the district final, with the other teams slotted in “using a predetermined order,” according to the MHSAA office.

The following are district pairings, dates and times for the 19 teams from high schools along the Lakeshore (Calvary didn’t field a girls varsity basketball team for the third straight year):

Mon., Mar. 22: Division 1: Holland girls at Zeeland East 7 PM

                      Division 1: Grandville girls at West Ottawa 7 PM

                      Division 1: Jenison girls at Zeeland West 7 PM

                      Division 2: Holland Christian girls at Coopersville 5:30 PM

                      Division 3: Black River girls at Fennville 7 PM

Tues., Mar. 23: Division 1: Holland boys at West Ottawa 7 PM

                       Division 1: Grandville boys at Zeeland West 7 PM

                       Division 2: Holland Christian boys v. Hamilton at Coloma 7 PM

                       Division 3: Saugatuck boys v. Black River at Fennville 7 PM
