HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – More information continues to be disclosed about an incident in which four suspects who purportedly used a stolen vehicle to ram their way into a Holland firearms dealer and taking weapons are being sought.
According to Police Services Captain Robert Buursma, officers and Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the Bullet Hole establishment off of Waverly Road near Chicago Drive shortly before 4 a.m. on Thursday (Mar. 11, 2021) after an alarm went off. They found that a SUV crashed into the front of the business, and a subsequent investigation showed that an undisclosed amount of weapons were missing.
A look into surveillance video taken from inside of the store showed that four masked suspects that appeared to be males entered the establishment after the crash. The vehicle used in the incident had been reported as stolen by the Grand Rapids Police Department.
In a Thursday afternoon update, Buursma said in a statement, “Detectives have been able to identify a vehicle which the suspects had used to flee the scene after the burglary. That vehicle, which was another stolen vehicle, was found in Kentwood. Holland Detectives have been working with (the) Kentwood (Police Department) as well as the (federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) in following up on multiple leads on this case. At this time the surveillance video will not be released due to the active on-going investigation.”
On Friday afternoon, Buursma had another statement: “Three of the firearms which were stolen from Bullet Hole have been recovered through the ongoing investigation. HDPS Detectives are continuing to work with ATF and as well as several other area agencies as the investigation continues.”
The suspects were still reported as being at large as of Friday Noontime.
The owner of Bullet Hole told reporters that there had been three recent attempts at burglarizing his business, with two earlier efforts being unsuccessful. A look at the retailer on Thursday afternoon showed that the debris from the crash had been cleared up, and the damaged storefront window was replaced by a hard cover with a door.
