Stu was a lifelong resident of Hamilton and a lifelong member of Hamilton Reformed Church. He spent many years as a respected upholsterer, working for Auto Top and Studio 2. He had a great sense of humor, a deep love for his family, and his Lord Jesus Christ.
Stu was preceded in death by his parents, Gerrit and Johanna (Roelofs) VanDyke; brothers, Howard and Ronald; sister-in-law, Wanda VanDyke; and brothers-in-law, Roger Walters, John Gates, and Eugene Owings.
Stu is lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Sharon VanDyke; his children, Tim (Kim Scamehorn) VanDyke, Penny (Rob Surina) VanDyke; sisters, Marcia (Ken) Bradsell, Ardith (Craig) Vander Woude, Phyllis Walters; in-laws, Curlene (Granger) VanDyke, Roger (Ruth Ann) Gates, Shirley Yoder, Judy Owings, and Rick Gates; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is planned for 9:30-10:30 a.m., Friday, March 12, 2021, at Hamilton Reformed Church with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m.. Reverend Larry LePoire will officiate. A private burial and committal service will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Hamilton with Reverend LePoire and Reverend Adam Van Der Stoep officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stu’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Holland.
