GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 52-year-old Marne man apparently escaped serious injury in a single-engine plain crash on Tuesday afternoon south of Grand Haven.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Christopher Dill, the unnamed pilot had just taken off from Grand Haven Memorial Airport in a Cessna 210A around 3:30 PM when he experienced engine trouble and tried to return to the facility. “He was unable to make it back to the airport and crashed into a wooded section of property on the north side of Ferris Stree, east of 160th Avenue,” Dill explained.
First responders affiliated with North Ottawa Community Hospital evaluated the pilot at the scene, and the man refused offered transportation to that medical facility. There were no other passengers in the aircraft, and no other property was damaged in the crash, which is being investigated by staffers of the Federal Aviation Administration.
