SPRING LAKE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Two women in their 80’s from Grand Rapids were injured after a two-vehicle Thursday afternoon crash in Spring Lake.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Christie Wendt, an 80-year-old woman was driving an automobile southbound on South Park Street around 4:30 PM when she stopped for a stop sign at West Exchange Street. She then proceeded through the intersection and into the path of an eastbound SUV, driven by a 16-year-old Spring Lake teen who had the right-of-way.
The older woman and an 89-year-old passenger, both of whom were buckled up, were taken to North Ottawa Community Hospital in Grand Haven for treatment of what Wendt described as non-life threatening injures. The teen was not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
