Zeeland Fire Chief Ross M. Tibbetts, in a memo to council wrote, “the Fire Rescue and Community Development Departments determined that a fire code would be most effective if it worked as a companion to the established State Building Code, and City Property Maintenance Code. Both the State Building Code and the City’s Property Maintenance Code are modified versions of the International Building Code (IBC) and Property Maintenance Code (IPMC), which are developed and published by the International Code Council. With these codes in place, staff determined that we would like to consider the International Fire Code (IFC), from the same code development organization for use in the City of Zeeland.”
