HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – There will be no men’s basketball action for Hope College this week.
The Holland school announced late on Monday morning that the scheduled season-opening games at home on Wednesday versus Adrian and at Albion on Saturday have been “postponed.” This is due to “COVID 19 protocols,” with no mention as to the extent or circumstances surrounding the situation.
In a statement, Hope AD Tim Schoonveld said, “Our priority in this challenging year has always been the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches and staff as well as our entire Hope community. As the men’s basketball program pauses its practice and competition schedule this week due to COVID-19 protocols, we are disappointed, but we look forward to a return to basketball activities when medical staff determines it is safe to do so.”
The Hope women’s home games this week, against Concordia (IL) on Wednesday (4:40 PM WHTC) and versus Albion on Saturday (2:40 PM WHTC) are still “scheduled to be played,” according to school officials.
The game at Albion has been rescheduled for 8 PM on Monday, February 1st; the Adrian home contest has yet to be rescheduled.
