HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Michigan health officials reported 2,706 new cases of COVID-19 for Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, bringing the statewide total to 519,082 people who’ve gotten ill since March.
Michigan Health and Human Services officials recorded 222 additional deaths for Saturday, bringing the total to 13,354, with 207 identified through vital records reviews, a standard medical procedure.
In Ottawa County, where 19,552 people have been diagnosed with the virus, 16,401 recovered and 292 people have died.
So far, 6,147 Allegan County residents have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and 4,889 people have recovered, while 81 people have died after getting the coronavirus.
Holland Hospital reported 16 people admitted with COVID-19; Spectrum Health’s dashboard shows 183 coronavirus patients admitted across 14 West Michigan hospitals, and seven employee who have tested positive for the virus.
Ottawa County will host a pop-up test site from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Ottawa County Road Commission parking lot, 14110 Lakeshore Drive in Grand Haven. County officials are asking people not to line up early, which causes traffic and facility issues.
West Michigan area health departments and hospitals officials are encouraging everyone in Phase 1A and 1B to register for and get their COVID-19 vaccine immediately. Individuals in these categories can find more registration information at VaccinateWestMI.com/register.
People individuals working or living in Allegan County complete the “I Want the COVID-19 Vaccine” form online at allegancounty.org/covid. Once ACHD has begun the vaccination phase an individual may be eligible for, ACHD will email individuals with instructions for making a vaccine appointment.
