HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Michigan health officials has 4,326 new COVID-19 cases for a total of 508,736 since March.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says 51 people died as of Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, pushing the statewide total to 12,918.
State officials say positivity rate — the number of people testing positive for the virus — – is also higher, up to 9.6 percent from the Dec. 27 rate of 8.2 percent.
Allegan county health officials have recorded 6,030 residents with COVID-19, noting 4,758 have recovered. Seventy six Allegan County residents died after getting the virus.
Ottawa County health officials say 19,160 people have been identified so far as having the virus and 15,878 have recovered, but 280 people died after getting sick.
Hospitalizations for COVID-19 in this part of West Michigan have fallen from all-time highs last month to 260 in Spectrum Health’s 14 hospitals and to 14 in Holland Hospital.
