HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Fire seriously damaged a Holland home just after 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 6, 2021.
Holland firefighters were called to 516 West 20th St., where they found a heavy fire and learned people were inside, according to Holland Fire Capt. Chris Tinney. They called for mutual aid from Graafschap firefighters.
One person managed to get out, and appeared injured, and went by ambulance to Holland Hospital for treatment of what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Firefighters learned no other people were inside.
One of the two pet dogs, rescued by firefighters, could not be revived despite using the pet response kit and CPR.
Damage estimates are not available at this time however the home sustained significant damage throughout. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Other agencies aiding firefighters included Holland Police, the department’s Victim’s Services Unit and Ottawa County volunteers for canteen services.
