HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Michigan health officials reported 4,992 new cases of COVID-19 for Sunday and Monday combined.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services officials say that works out to an average of two-thousand-496 cases per day.
Since March, the state has reported a total of more than 502-thousand cases of COVID.
Eighty more deaths were reported between Sunday and Monday combined, for a statewide death toll of 12-thousand-678.
In Ottawa County, 18,997 residents have contracted the virus since mid-March, and 15,576 have recovered, while 272 people have died.
In Allegan County 5-thousand-931 people have been diagnosed with the virus, out of more-than 37-thousand tests. 4-thousand-655 have recovered and 73 people have died.
After a fairly steady downward trend from a peak of an average 99.9 people a day being diagnosed on Nov. 18th, Allegan County health officials saw a drop to 26.3 people per day being diagnosed, on average — the lowest number since October. Those numbers appear to be rising since Christmas Day.
