DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Red Wings will have 40 players on the ice when training camp begins tomorrow. There will be 23 forwards, 12 defensemen and five goaltenders for the practices and three scrimmage games.
The red Wings and the six other teams that did not make the 2020 postseason are allowed to begin camp early before the remaining 24 teams report January 3, 2021.
Detroit Red Wings American Hockey League affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins will begin play in February.
Games will start February 5. The AHL cancelled the end of the 2019-20 regular season and playoffs in May due to COVID-19.
