HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Ottawa and Allegan County health officials have announced how people can plan on getting the COVID-19 vaccine, even as they are making sure front-line workers and volunteers are getting innoculated.
Kristina Wieghmink, Ottawa County’s health office spokeswoman, says residents can sign up for a notification when their phase opens and to get details on where to get the vaccine. Since up at http://bit.ly/3rQBtQeLocal.
Signing up means public health officials can email you an alert when your phase is open and where you can go to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
This sign-up is for notification purposes only.
Getting that notification email is not a guarantee of getting the vaccine — the priorities are being set based on vaccine availabltiy and priorities set b those administering the shots, according to Wieghmink’s note, posted on LinkedIn.
Allegan County Health officials responsible for vaccinating others or supporting upcoming COVID-19 vaccine clinics are getting their shots this week.
Allegan County’s clinics for groups in Phase 1A start next week, on an appointment-only basis. This group includes people who are paid to work in healthcare, or volunteers — people with the potential for direct or indirect exposure to patients or infectious materials. This includes people who can’t work from home as well as residents in long-term care facilities.
Health care workers who have not been vaccinated through a hospital or other organization should complete the “I Want the COVID-19 Vaccine” form found on allegancounty.org/covid.
ACHD will send an email to the address provided and give instructions for making a vaccine appointment.
ACHD recommends individuals working or living in Allegan County who do not fall in the 1A Phase for vaccination prioritization, also complete the “I Want the COVID-19 Vaccine” form on allegancounty.org/covid. County officials will follow up with emailed instructions. People without email or web service may call the the county’s COVID-19 hotline at (269) 686-4546 to provide their information.
“This vaccine brings hope as we move to the next phase of the COVID-19 response,” states Allegan County Medical Director Richard Tooker. “There have been over 3,100 individuals living or working in Allegan County who have signed up to receive a vaccine. Knowing this information now will help quickly direct communications to individuals when their phase can start making vaccine appointments.”
