Jason Kortering, age 84, was taken home to see Jesus, and to join the triumphant church in glory, on Sunday, Dec. 20, as the church here below was gathering for worship. Mourning his loss, but rejoicing in the hope of eternal life, are his beloved and faithful wife of 63 years, Jeannette “Jean” Kortering; five daughters: Lori (Prof. Barry) Gritters, Sharon (Dennis) Griess, Joann Klamer, Ellen (Leon) Kamps, and Carol Bos; 24 grand-children; 60 great grand-children; brother Ervin (Esther) Kortering; in-laws Peter (Nell) Faber, Marge Faber, Carol Faber, Elaine Faber, Chris (John) Holleman. Jason was preceded in death by grand-daughter Courtney Klamer; siblings Fern, Erma, Jess, and Lois Kortering, Eloise (Ken) Schuitema; in-laws Bill, Oscar, and John Faber. Jason grew up in Holland, MI, graduated from Calvin College and the Protestant Reformed Seminary, and served, by God’s great grace, as a faithful pastor and shepherd in the church of Christ in congregations in Hull, IA; Walker, MI; Redlands, CA; Loveland, CO; Grandville, MI; and Singapore. He and Jean were spending their retirement years with their dear church family at Grandville Protestant Reformed Church. A walk-by visitation for Jean and their children is planned for Wednesday, December 23, 11:30-12:30 PM, at Grandville Protestant Reformed Church, 4320 40th Street, Grandville. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM, with live-stream available on Grandville PRC website. Private interment will be in Georgetown Cemetery.
